Better known by its common name of avens, this herb is used for treating the digestive tract in conditions such as colitis but it is also known to help in diarrhea, to fight fevers, and to relieve uterine bleeding.
Rudolf Steiner points out that avens helps with the processes taking place in the esophagus, and the digestive processes situated in the more conscious aspects of the digestion such as the mouth and upper stomach. As such it is more closely related to the carbohydrate metabolism.
